A strong advocate for the Kootenays.
Brittny Anderson is dedicated to working for our region. She has served on Nelson’s City Council since 2018 and sits on the board of the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK). Brittny has been a strong advocate for action on climate change and increasing services for the most vulnerable people in our communities. She has championed active transportation and has been dedicated to supporting the local small business community through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Brittny Anderson grew up here in the Kootenays. As a young person, she expanded her horizons on a Rotary youth exchange. Driven to make a positive impact on the world, she was elected as LVR’s school Prime Minister. She went on to study at Selkirk College and graduated from UBC Okanagan with a degree in International Relations. She continued her education in Budapest, completing a Master of Science degree in Environmental Science and Policy.
Brittny had followed a diverse career path before entering public life. At the RDCK, she worked in the environmental services department, focused on programs such as recycling and water systems. In 2014, she co-founded The Cannabis Conservancy, a company that facilitates environmental certification for the emerging cannabis industry. With a commitment to science and a passion for sustainability Brittny lead the project management for the development of “Sun and Earth Certified”. This regenerative certification builds upon the principles of organic agriculture, focusing on soil health, onsite nutrient fertility, empowering workers, and fostering community engagement.
Brittny loves long walks with her dog Stella and looks forward to sitting around a campfire on a cool autumn evening with her partner Paul. Family-focused, Brittny is very close with her parents Terry and Deb and brother Sanden.
